Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 7, 2026
Bloom (“Bloom,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is an early-learning activity app made by WonderKiln that helps parents and caregivers of young children (ages 0–5) discover fun, age-appropriate developmental activities. Bloom is designed to be used by a parent or caregiver on behalf of their child — not directly by the child. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
1. Information We Collect
- Account information: your name, email address, and password (stored securely as a hash, never in plain text).
- Address & location information:if you provide your address, or allow location access, during setup, we use it to help match you with your child’s participating school district.
- Child profile information (provided by you):your child’s first name or nickname, birthdate, chosen focus areas, an optional note about your child’s needs (“special considerations”), and a chosen avatar. We do not collect photos of your child.
- District & invite information: any invite code you enter and your affiliated school district, used to apply district-specific settings and curriculum alignment.
- Usage & activity data: activities assigned or completed, ratings and feedback you give, streaks, XP, and milestone/achievement data.
- App settings:language, daily activity goal, and reminder preferences. Daily reminders are scheduled locally on your own device — we do not collect a push notification token or send reminders through a third-party push service.
- Diagnostic & crash data: if the app encounters an error, technical details (device model, OS version, app version, and a stack trace) may be sent to our crash-reporting provider, Sentry, so we can find and fix the problem.
- Communications: account-related emails (such as email verification or password reset) are sent through our transactional email provider, Postmark, which receives your email address solely to deliver those messages.
2. How We Use Information
- Create, secure, and manage your account
- Personalize and generate age-appropriate activities for your child
- Match you with the correct school district and apply district-specific settings
- Track progress, streaks, and achievements for your child
- Send account-related emails and, if enabled, local daily reminders
- Maintain, secure, and improve Bloom, and diagnose and fix bugs
- Respond to your questions and support requests
3. AI-Generated Activities
Bloom uses Google’s Gemini AI models to generate personalized activity suggestions. When generating an activity, we send Gemini your child’s age range, selected focus areas, general context like available time or setting, and any “special considerations” notes you’ve added to your child’s profile so activities can be adapted to your child’s needs. We never send your child’s name. Because the special considerations field is free text, please avoid including your child’s name or other directly identifying details in it. This data is used only to generate your activity and is processed subject to Google’s own terms; we do not permit it to be used to build advertising profiles.
4. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We only share it:
- With service providers who help us run Bloom, solely for the purposes described above: our hosting/database infrastructure, Postmark (email delivery), Google Gemini / Google Cloud (AI activity generation), Sentry (crash and error monitoring), and Expo/EAS (app builds and updates).
- With your child’s participating school district, limited to aggregated or administrative information needed to manage the partnership (for example, that an invite code was used, enrollment counts, or engagement summaries). Districts do not receive your child’s individual activity content or your private notes.
- If required by law, to protect the rights and safety of our users, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets — in which case we will notify you.
5. Children’s Privacy
Bloom is intended to be operated by a parent or legal guardian on behalf of their child. Children do not create their own accounts, and Bloom is designed so a child does not need to interact with the device to benefit from its suggested activities. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. Any information about a child (name/nickname, birthdate, focus areas, notes) is provided voluntarily by the parent/guardian account holder. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information directly, please contact us at [email protected] so we can delete it.
6. Data Retention
We retain account and child profile information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information and your child’s profile information within 30 days, except where we need to retain limited data to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.
7. Your Choices & Rights
- Access & correction: review and update your account and child profile information at any time within the app.
- Deletion:delete your account from within the app’s settings, or by emailing [email protected]. Deleting your account removes your child profile(s) and associated activity history. See how to delete your account for step-by-step instructions.
- Notifications: turn daily reminders on or off at any time in Settings.
- Location: you can decline location access and still find your district manually or with an invite code.
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (for example, under the CCPA or GDPR) to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal information. Contact us to exercise these rights.
8. Data Security
We use industry-standard safeguards — including encryption in transit, hashed passwords, and access controls — to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. International Users
Bloom is currently offered to families in Ohio, United States, and our servers are located in the United States. If you access Bloom from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you in the app or by email before they take effect. The effective date above reflects the latest version.
